Of the cod-liver oil rather than of the anti-inflammatory?
The cod-liver oil could help the patients who suffer from arthritic pains to reduce their dependence towards the anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), according to researchers écossais1.
The NSAIDs are the medicines prescribed the more extensively in the goal to relieve the pain associated to the rheumatoid arthritis or the osteoarthritis. most 58 people who participated in the survey took either the ibuprofen, the diclofenac or the naproxen.
According to the results, 39% of the topics that took the cod liver oil-30% could reduce their consumption of NSAIDs, against only 10% of the patients who took the placebo. The researchers led two other tests to the course of which the cod-liver oil would have given similar results. They assign this anti-inflammatory effect to the omega 3 that contains oil.
Lasting nine months, the topics took either 10 grams per day of cod-liver oil under the shape of capsules or an identical placebo. From the fourth month, the patients were invited to reduce their consumption of NSAIDs or to quit their medication if they were completely capable of it.
