Fibromyalgia: the aqua would help to relieve the symptoms
Exercises practiced in a heated swimming pool could improve the quality of life of women affected by fibromyalgia, according to a Spanish survey.
The well-being of the 17 participants that made some exercises in water surpassed the one of the 16 women that also endured fibromyalgia, but that did not participate to the sessions of aqua, noted the researchers. They compared the parameters of pain, anxiety, daily activities, mobility and autonomy of the two groups of women.
According to the results, the beneficial effect of the aquatic exercise made itself feel since the first assessment, after three months of sessions. At the end of the survey, that lasted eight months, the kindness were always present.
The women of the aqua group participated in three sessions of one hour in swimming pool every week. The controlled exercises consisted of 10 minutes of warming-up, 10 minutes of aerobe, 20 minutes of body building while using the resistance of water, then 10 minutes of aerobe other and, finally, 10 minutes of relaxation. The water of the swimming pool, that arrived to the height of the size of the participants, was heated in 33 ° C.
A previous survey, that had lasted 12 weeks, had shown that the beneficial effects of the aquatic exercises on the fibromyalgia had dimmed following one period of inactivity of three months. One ignores how long the kindness of the aqua maintained themselves following the present survey.
