Several years ago I left England to find a new and better life because I was desperate to break out of the rat race and start again. I never considered that in portugal web design would be my new career. In fact the whole idea of doing website design portugal never occurred to me until three years ago when we needed a website to promote our bed and breakfast business.
It was a long and steep learning curve for the first year, but finally I thought I had cracked it. I was of course wrong because the learning just got more complicated and my web design portugal career looked over before it had begun.
I tried to do too much too soon and my head felt like it was going to explode, luckily for me it did not! I was introduced by a friend to a couple of incredible of free web design tools to use on Firefox and these were the Web Developer Toolbar and Firebug. With these in my arsenal it helped a great deal.
Then one day in October 2008, I was left alone in my house in Portugal while everyone else went back to the UK for a few weeks. This was the chance I needed to improve and move up a lot in the HTML and CSS knowledge stakes. It was also during that period I found a different way of approaching web design.
It was of course CMS and although my first experiments with Drupal almost put me off for good, it was then that I tried out Joomla and my whole world changed as if a light had been turned on inside my brain.
I soon found out it was possible to create a website and customise it very fast indeed. It all seemed so simple. I do not think I have studied anything in my life with such energy. When you realise that all the usual things can be accomplished easily and quickly and the polished extras can be simply added for the user experience, then why would any web designer ever want anything else?
Of course, there is still a place for the traditional website, there will be for a long time yet, but the development of Web 2 has dramatically altered my perception of web design and marketing too.
