The psychotherapists soon recognized. and framed

Since some weeks, the Commission of the institutions of the national assembly studies the report of the consultations on to the project of 50 law that foresees, among others, the framing of the practice of the psychotherapy. His / her / its adoption should take place here from the end of the printemps1.
This is framing wished since about fifteen years by multiple organisms, of which the Quebec society of the professional psychotherapists (the) s (SQPP).
"The goal is not to stop the competent people from practicing, but to confirm that those that present themselves like the psychotherapists practice psychotherapy indeed to the sense of the definition of the law", explain the president of the SQPP, Michel Brais.
A law for the most vulnerable
According to the chairwoman of the professional order of the psychologists of Quebec (OPPQ), Rose-Marie Charest, the new law constitutes an important progress, especially for the most vulnerable on a psychological level.
"More someone is suffering, more he / it would like that one finds the formula that is going to heal it quickly, she / it explains. In psychotherapy, one can not promise any results like that, but the impostors, them, are going to it promised. It is the danger that one comes to demarcate here. "2
Who will be recognized like psychotherapist?
The project of 50 law foresees that the psychologists and the physicians who work in mental health will be, of office, recognized as psychotherapists. It will also be the case of the resource persons, psychoéducateurs, occupational therapists, nurses and social workers that detain a mastery and an appraisal determined.
In the SQPP, the majority of about hundred members will be able to, by vested rights, to be recognized like psychotherapists.
Among the other parties intervening in psychotherapy not being part of an order, vested rights allowing them to be recognized as psychotherapists, according to the OPPQ, will benefit from 500 to 1 000 among them.
Otherwise, all person who will be recognized like psychotherapist should follow a continuing education of at least 90 hours then, five years. "Someone that made him a doctorate there 15 years and that does not have a continuing education, as is suspected as an impostor who does not have a training", illustrate Mr. Brais.
Those that practice the complementary techniques, like the art-therapy and the programming neurolinguistics, sometimes detain a double training that could qualify them like psychotherapists. But their recognition as psychotherapist will not be automatic.
Same thing for those that practice some approaches as the counselling, the psychological education, the accompaniment, the relation of help or support of the groups.
"That does not mean that these approaches do not have a value nor that makes one work that there is not important or that he / it is made without expertise, but it is necessary to enact the moment from which one has to a business psychotherapy, that is to say a treatment ", explain Michel Brais.
