The magnets against the pain: again a lot of uncertainty
Nothing indicates that the magnets have a real pain-killing effect, according to the results of a British survey.
Some researchers analyzed the results of 23 clinical tests with placebo in order to value the efficiency of her (application of static magnets) to relieve various types of pains.
The researchers underline however that one must interpret these results with prudence because the studied tests were about a very big variety of pains. The procedures used (types of magnets, lasted of the treatment, etc.) varied a survey as considerably to the other.
Some tests gave positive results all the same. Four studies were about the pains associated to the osteoarthritis and the results let believe that she/it would be more efficient than a placebo.
The researchers conclude that nothing permits, for the meantime, to recommend the to counter the pain. It would be however applicable to conduct more important clinical tests and to find an indiscernible placebo of the real magnet, they underline.
The researchers didn’t raise any undesirable effect however worthy of mention. However, the magnets would be contraindicated for people carrying a cardiac pacemaker, a pump to insulin or a similar device susceptible to be disrupted by a magnetic field, they specify.
