Microsoft plans to offer elements of its Zune music and video services throughout Europe and other countries this fall in conjunction with the release of its phone operating system Windows 7. Phone Windows 7 is scheduled to start before Christmas, but the specific date has not been established, said Scott Rowe, spokesman for Microsofts Entertainment Services. Upgraded the Zune 4.7 software will be Windows 7 client phone synchronization.
Music Zune Marketplace, where users can buy MP3 files from a directory 8 million songs, is in the U.S. now, but will be expanded this fall to Britain, France, Italy, Spain and Germany. Clips will also be sold that can be played on Windows PCs, Windows 7 and Zune Phone Xbox Live.
Microsoft Video Marketplace will allow people in the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, Australia and New Zealand(where the service will expand in the spring) to buy movies for download and watch on one of Xbox Live, Windows PC Windows seven or Phone. Rental service will also be offered in those countries, like Italy and Spain.
Other Services Zune Pass lets users stream and download an unlimited number of songs. Downloaded songs have DRM(Digital Rights Management) that cause the song is impossible restrictions, if the subscription expires.
