Some researchers put on the day the role of the temperature and the relative humidity in the transmission of the virus of the flu. Their results could explain why, year after year, the flu presents itself with the month of November.
The New Yorkers researchers confined pigs of India inside pieces to controlled environment. According to their results, the virus transmitted itself more easily when the ambient air was maintained in 5 °C. He/it propagated himself/itself less efficiently in 20 °C and not of the all in 30 °C. The weak rates of relative humidity. 20% and 35%. would also facilitate the transmission of the virus, they have noticed.
In these ideal conditions, the virus of the flu would win in stability and would stay thus longer active. The cold air returns the clearing of the more difficult respiratory ways: the nasal secretions become then more viscous, what helps the virus to encrust and to propagate itself/themselves in the respiratory system, explain the authors of the survey.
Contrary to what one could believe, the cold weather would not weaken the immune system, they add. That it is in 5 °C, 20 °C or 30 °C, the answers of the immune system of the pigs of India were the same.
According to the researchers, it would be possible to limit the transmission of the virus by aerial way in maintaining the ambient temperature to more of 20 °C and the relative humidity around 50%. This preventive approach doesn’t apply however to the cases of contagion by physical contact.
