The hormonotherapy would increase the risks of venous thromboembolism
The replacement hormones prescribed to the post-menopausal women would increase the risks of venous thromboembolism, according to French researchers and écossais1. This cardiovascular disorder results from the obstruction of a vein caused by the passage of blood clots.
The researchers analyzed the results of 24 studies led by more of 200 000 post-menopausal women. According to the results, the women who took hormone replacement had two and half times more of risks to be reached that those of thromboembolism that there did not have recourse.
The risk would be increased during the first year of treatment, as well as at people at elevated risk of thromboembolic unrests. He / it would decrease on the other hand quickly after the interruption of the treatment.
The hormonotherapy transdermal (hormones managed as cutaneous stamps) would not increase the risks of thromboembolism. The researchers are however cautious about the safety of the cutaneous stamps because of the small number of study having carried on this fashion of administration.
The researchers believe that more studies will be necessary in order to be able to value the risks and the kindness of the various fashions of administration of the replacement hormones better.
