A new program specialized in ecohealth will be offered, in next September, to the Faculty of the permanent education of the university of Montreal. This interdisciplinary program wishes to initiate the practitioners of health, education and the environment to the communal approach of a global health.
The ecosystem is a new concept that takes account many factors – social, economic, policies, cultural and ecological. influencing the well-being and the quality of life of the occupants of a given territory. In other words, health is not solely a more physical well-being business and psychology; the middle of life becomes a central element of health.
"We want to widen the expertise of people that participate in projects bound to the natural environment or structure, that it was about the construction of a road, of a factory, of the setting up of new agricultural practices or the redevelopment of a district" , Indicate Houssine Dridi, responsible of the program. "Such projects can have important impacts on the human health", he / it adds.
The certificate is already composed of seven new courses and several existing courses in other departments and faculties. geography, urbanism, anthropology, medicine and right, among others. The landed topics are varied: internationalization and local stakes, ethical, lasting development, social determinants of health, environment and health, etc..
"To take the best decisions, it is necessary to be able to understand the speech of the physicians now, but also the architects, the environmentalists and the other intervening parties called to collaborate to a project, specify Houssine Dridi. The certificate wants to create thus some bridges between the disciplines and to allow the intervening parties to understand itself / themselves better. "
For his / her / its first year, the program should welcome 30 to 50 students. He / it targets the agents of development, the local and municipal decision-makers, the educators, the administrators and the professionals of the liberal arts, among others, social, biologic and medical.
