The kindness of the calcium supplements on health are numerous, but these could represent a risk for the heart, of the less for the women agrees. This is the conclusion reached by has team of New Zealand researchers who believed, to the departure, that the supplements of calcium would decrease the risk of cardiac attacks at the post-menopause women.
Close to 1 500 women, aged on average of 74 years, participated in the clinical test that lasted five years. Half took a supplement of one gram calcium per day, either the equivalent of four portions of dairy products; and the other, a placebo.
The cardiac attacks were more frequent at the women who took a supplement of calcium (36 attacks touch 31 women) compared to those that received the placebo (22 attacks touch 21 women). It is necessary to note however that these results are not meaningful of one point of statistical view.
The supplements of calcium could contribute to accelerate the hardening of the blood vessels, increasing the risk of cardiac attacks thus, believe the researchers. Their results contradict the findings of several epidemiological studies that affirm however, on the contrary, that the calcium would have a protective effect against the cardiovascular illnesses.
